The Story Behind 933
933 was founded from firsthand experience developing design products within China’s manufacturing system.
Design studios and emerging brands often develop thoughtful concepts, yet turning those ideas into well-made products requires navigating a complex manufacturing landscape. Materials, processes, suppliers, tooling, and production systems must all come together in the right way.
China offers one of the most complete manufacturing ecosystems in the world. Within a relatively compact geography, it is possible to access a wide range of specialized capabilities — from mechanical design, electrical engineering, metal fabrication, woodworking, surface finishing, or assembly,packaging.... But without local knowledge and coordination, this ecosystem can be difficult to navigate.
933 was created to bridge that gap.
933 was founded by a group of industry professionals with backgrounds in product design, engineering, and factory-side production management. Most of the team’s experience was developed within the manufacturing regions of southern and eastern China, particularly in the Pearl River Delta and the Yangtze River Delta, two of the country’s most important industrial supply chain hubs.
Each member of the team brings more than a decade of experience working within China’s manufacturing sector. Over the years, the team has been involved in supporting the manufacturing of products for dozens of international brands, working across different product categories and production systems.
This experience provides a practical understanding of both sides of the process: the intentions behind design and the realities of industrial production.
Rather than acting as a traditional supplier, our role is to structure and manage the manufacturing process — selecting the right partners, coordinating development, and guiding products from prototype to production.
Our role is to translate between these two worlds — helping products move from concept to reliable manufacturing.
Today, 933 works with a network of specialized manufacturers across China, forming flexible production systems around each project.
At its core, 933 is built on a simple idea:
When design and manufacturing work closely together
Better products emerge.
Manufacturing Partners
Our manufacturing network is built from more than a decade of visiting and evaluating thousands of factories across China. Many of whom also produce for established international brands. These factories bring proven experience in meeting the quality, consistency, and production standards required by companies at each stage.
Selecting the right manufacturing partner is a critical step in the development of any product. Rather than relying on a fixed supplier list, we evaluate and select factories based on the specific technical and production requirements of each project.
Our selection is guided by a few key principles:
Process Expertise
Proven Production Standards
Engineering Collaboration
Production Management
Long-term Reliability
Through this approach, we assemble a tailored production network for each project — combining experienced manufacturers and specialized processes to ensure products move smoothly from development to reliable production.
This distributed structure allows products to move from prototype to production through a coordinated manufacturing system.
At its core, our work is about structuring that system — aligning design, engineering, and manufacturing so that products can be produced with consistency and care.
Manufacturing is highly specialized.
We prioritize factories with deep experience in the specific materials and processes required for a product — whether metal fabrication, woodworking, surface finishing, or assembly...
Many of the manufacturers we work with also produce for established international brands.
This means they are familiar with the quality, documentation, and consistency required in global product manufacturing.
Product development often requires adjustments during prototyping and early production.
We select partners who are able to collaborate closely with designers and engineers to refine structures, materials, and manufacturing methods.
Beyond equipment and craftsmanship, we evaluate how factories manage production — including workflow organization, quality control, and communication during manufacturing.
A manufacturing partner must be able to support a product not only during initial development, but throughout its production life cycle.
We prioritize suppliers who demonstrate stability, consistency, and long-term commitment.
933 focuses on structuring that process.
China’s Manufacturing Ecosystem
Across different regions, highly specialized industrial clusters have formed around materials, production techniques, and manufacturing processes. This concentration of expertise allows complex products to be developed through closely connected supply chains.
Components, tooling, materials, and finishing processes can often be coordinated efficiently across multiple suppliers.
For companies developing physical products, this ecosystem offers an unusual combination of technical depth, flexibility, and production capability.
At the same time, global supply chains have become increasingly complex. Changing trade environments and differing perceptions around manufacturing locations have led many companies to reassess how and where products are made.
In practice, successful manufacturing partnerships rely less on geography and more on transparency, technical capability, and reliable collaboration.
